A note on copyright

We retain the copyright on all our original writing and photography. We’re happy for you to share it with others, just please be sure to mention us and/or link to our site when you reference our content. We’ve included many easy sharing tools so this should be a breeze for you.

As a sign of respect and appreciation for the efforts of other creative folks out there, we make every attempt to properly credit the sources of the information and supplementary material we use on our site. If we miss properly attributing something (or just couldn’t find it!) please tell us. We’ll fix it and thank you for it!

If you’re curious about the ‘stickmen’ figures throughout the site, they are licensed from Shutterstock and created by NLSHOP.

Disclosures in regular, every day English

We blog because we love to eat and write and share our experiences with other people. We also blog because we are writers, and writers always want people to read their stuff – whether in book or blog format. Writers are also generally a little light of pocket change, so if you do want to buy our books because you like our blog, well – we wouldn’t mind that.

We don’t get paid to talk about places, people or products on our blog. We may sometimes get free food or event tickets (oh the lucky days!), but what we choose to say about that food and/or event is not influenced in any way by the people providing them.

We agree with our moms – if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. If we do receive something free and don’t enjoy the experience, we will simply not talk about it publicly (but we will share our detailed feedback with the company or individual who provided it in the hopes of future improvements) so we are not put in a conflict of interest situation where we feel obliged to say nice things we wouldn’t mean.

We value our integrity, our readers and our reputation for transparency too highly to compromise in this area.

We don’t work at, for, or with any of the restaurants or companies we are reviewing (although we frequently give them our money in exchange for food and beverages). If it’s somewhere we used to work, then we will mention that.

Sometimes if we’re recommending something that we think is awesome, (like a book on Amazon) we will make use of an affiliate link. This “income” helps us to be able to buy more books/products/whatever to review for you so we can spend our own money on dining out more! We hope you understand and support that.

If ever we are actually paid to review something, WE WILL TELL YOU. It’ll be obvious, no skull-diggery or tricks. We’ll flat out tell you…and then you can make your own judgements about how many grains of salt you’ll need while enjoying the article.
